Herbert King Ashburton

We are proud to be a part of the community in Ashburton and the surrounding suburbs, including Glen Iris, Ashwood, Chadstone and Camberwell.

From the bustling shops of Ashburton Village along High Street to the leafy green parks and trails around Gardiners Creek local residents have everything they need, right on their doorstep.

Perhaps this is why in a Torrens University study in 2021, Ashburton residents were found to have the longest lifespan of any residents in Victoria. We are proud to serve the Ashburton community and welcome enquiries for advice, funeral planning, or just to say hello to one of our friendly Ashburton team members.

Herbert King Funeral Director in
Ashburton

Formerly owned by Herbert King & Sons, the Ashburton funeral home and chapel, built in 1958, was one of the first purpose-built architect-designed funeral parlours erected in the Melbourne metropolitan area. Prior to this time it was much more common for funeral homes to be established within existing buildings.

Today, you can see the original windows on the Herbert King chapel complete with the 3 digit phone number which was used at the time. The Ashburton chapel, located on the corner of Warrigal road and Fakenham road has a standing capacity of 130 people, with seating for 80.

Celebrating our Local Community of
Ashburton

Herbert King Ashburton proudly supports community events, churches and community groups in the local Ashburton area.

Through sponsorships and events we strengthen our community ties and remain an active part of our community in Ashburton and surrounding suburbs.

Tobin Brothers Ringwood by far exceeded my expectations. Right from the beginning, they did everything to make me feel comfortable and valued. The service was perfectly facilitated right down to the finest detail and I felt Mum's life was truly honoured and celebrated. I can strongly recommend TB Ringwood from start to finish and I doubt any other could exceed their high standard of service and care.

From the time our father passed away to his funeral, Tobin Brothers in East Burwood were fantastic. A big thank you to Judith the funeral planner, Veronica the Celebrant, Mary Anne who looked after us at dads funeral and the team on the day. It went very smoothly and the guests loved the venue and food.

Michelle and the team at Tobin Brothers Burwood organised the funeral for our father who passed away this week. Michelle was beautiful and made the process completely stress free. Thankfully we don't have to organise a funeral every week, but if I did I would use these guys! Highly recommended.

Founded in 1934

The first funeral conducted by Tobin Brothers Funerals was for Ena Margaret Price in 1934. In its first year, the company conducted 53 funerals and after the payment of creditors and the collection of debts, it made a modest profit.
